It's the picture-perfect post card some of us can only dream of: various halls and tents booming with music and statuesque models, snow lining the streets and falling from the sky, and the industry's biggest names traipsing around the city venue to venue giving photographers the best possible photo op for "Street Style" sections of websites, blogs, etc.
Here's some short-ish coverage on my favorite shows from Day 1.
Nicholas K's Fall 2014 collection kicked off the week at the Pavilion this morning at 9 am. The show was produced by none other than Kelly Cutrone's People's Revolution. Unfortunately, I could not live stream this show during class because my professor does not allow laptops in class. The torture! I was itching at the seams..clothing, seams, ha..to get my hands on photos from the show. The color palette was right up my alley: black, gray, navy. The future for Fall 2014 is looking bright (dark) already! I know no one was mad at the selection of male modes, either.

BCBG Max Azria followed Nicholas K at 10 am in the Theatre. Their color scheme was lighter than the first show, but still stuck to a relatively neutral palette. That's what I like to see BCBG. Fur was also on trend at the show lining coats and other pieces. Man Repeller tweeted during the show about the style of the new coats: "The mullet coat at BCBG asks this: am I willing to forfeit front leg warmth for toasty hamstrings? #nyfw"

Raoul has been named "the one to watch" and I couldn't agree more. Black and white, a line after my own heart, was on trend for this 10:30 am presentation at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse. One of my best friends, Melissa, works in their sales department, so this presentation was especially cool for me to look out for! She's worked so hard with them and I'm so happy it's all paying off.

Richard Chai showed at the Salon at 11 am. My favorite part of the collection were the knee length coats. I'm sure all of the attendees were dying to get their frozen-from-the-polar-vortex hands on one of these beauties. Joe Jonas was backstage while Bryan Greenberg and Zachary Quinto sat front row (Has anyone else seen people calling it "#FROW" now? Thoughts?) If I have any male readers, take notice of these fashion-forward men. Women, show these photos to your men.

Tadashi Shoji was up and again black was on trend. They also included beautiful reds that will look fabulous against our summer-is-over-I'm-pale-again skin. Or if you're like me, your year around skin.

Todd Snyder's men were on point this evening at the Pavilion. The concept was "Mod Gents" and Snyder updated the Mod sensibility of the early 60's. They also stuck with a pretty neutral color palette. Oh, the things we would do to be in that room right now. To see the clothes, of course!

In other fashion news, Net-a-Porter is launching a new magazine tomorrow called Porter. Giselle is their very first cover model and the the veteran model does not disappoint. Check it out on newsstands and stay in-the-know on all things fashion.
Who were your favorite designers of the day? Stay tuned for more MBFW coverage.
