Met Gala 2013: Fashionably Punk

Hey there!

If you are anything like me and my friends, you were glued to your laptop watching the Met Gala red carpet live stream on Monday night!

I honestly could not take another minute of the two hosts. They were so unprofessional and unprepared! Where was E!, Giuliana, and Ryan Seacrest when you need them? Though the two correspondents were bland and lacked enthusiasm, the fashion was far from it. High Society stepped out in their own take on "punk" to fit the theme of this year's Gala. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

FLAWLESS. Anne Hathaway is every bit outside of her element and comfort zone. She made a drastic change, and it paid off. She has never looked better! Vintage Valentino from 1992, how much more authentic punk can you get?

Yesss, Rooney Mara. I am OBSESSED with Ms. Mara. The angelic white lace dress was paired perfectly with a dark lip, bold brow, and sleek pony. She is definitely channeling her inner Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, anyone?)

I'm hoping she is preparing to shoot the sequel, and that is the reason why her hair looks so short from behind! Also, who doesn't love a cut out back?

Miley Cyrus may not have been on everyone's best dressed list, but you can't deny that the girl committed to punk and ran with it. She seriously looks like she stepped out of the 90s. MiCy is one of my fashion icons, and I can't say anything bad about her.

SJP didn't disappoint. The faux-hawk is to die for. We should all take fashion risks like this from time to time. Am I the only one who still finds it impossible to separate her from her fashionista alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw?

Model Cara Delevingne set the bar high last night. A spiked dress, smokey eye, and slightly greased hair made her look one of my favorites. Her eyes constantly look hypnotizing, and I don't think I'm the only one who has fallen under her spell.

Jennifer Lawrence is another one of my idols. At 22 years old, she has accomplished more than most of us ever will. She was stunning in Dior as usual. All black is always in style, the details on the dress are amazing, and the veil on her face is the icing on the cake.

What did you guys think of the event? Who were your best and worst dressed of the night?

xx
Alana
